5 Different Types of Hemorrhoid Surgery

advertisement
hemorrhoid report

There are many different types of hemorrhoid surgery available today.

Which one is right for you will depend on how painful and severe your hemorrhoid is.

If you're just suffering from a mild hemorrhoid you will usually be given the advice of eating healthier foods which promote softer stools.

Surgery can be avoided in most cases, but if your hemorrhoid gets extremely severe and painful, you might need surgery.

As hemorrhoids get larger and more painful, they become harder and harder to cure, but that doesn't mean that you absolutely need surgery.

External hemorrhoids are usually not surgically removed unless they are large and extremely painful. Surgeries are more focused on taking care of internal hemorrhoids.

Here are common examples of the types of surgery and methods that are used today for removing hemorrhoids...

  1. Hemorrhoidectomy
Hemorrhoidectomy is one of the most invasive hemorrhoid removal procedures, because it surgically removes the excess tissue around the hemorrhoid. This method has more side-effects than the others.

  2. Infrared Coagulation
An infrared beam is used to heat and kill the hemorrhoid. Several treatments may be necessary and the long-term results are not as good as with ligation.

  3. Ligation
Also known has hemorrhoid banding, a small rubber band is placed around the base of the hemorrhoid. This stops the blood flow which leads to the hemorrhoid shriveling up.

  4. Sclerotherapy
A hardening solution is injected into the base of the hemorrhoid. It is usually used for small hemorrhoids, because it has a low chance of success on larger ones. It is not a cure for hemorrhoids, as they often come back after about 12 months.

  5. PPH
PPH stands for Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids. It is a fairly new, minimally invasive procedure that uses a circular stapler device to lift up or reposition the tissue. This reduces the blood flow to the internal hemorrhoid which leads to the hemorrhoid shrinking and disappearing in 4-6 weeks.

Ask your doctor for more information on what kind of treatments are available in your area. Better treatments are being constantly developed, so make sure that you read up on the latest advances.

I am not a doctor, but I would check with a natural health practitioner before having surgery if there is anything they can do to help. I'll do anything to avoid surgery :)
