The Five Most Effective Ways to
Get Relief for Constipation
Do you want the no fuss, simple approach to getting relief for constipation? Then you've come to the right place.
Here are the five most effective ways to relieve constipation, choose which one you like the most and stick with it.
These remedies have been proven (by other people and me) to work.
The Top 5 Ways to Get Relief for Constipation
Fruits & Veggies Bonanza
This is my favorite because it revitalizes and cleanses the body by providing much needed nutrients. All you have to do is eat raw foods such as fruits, veggies and some nuts and seeds for a few days until your constipation is gone. You should eat A LOT of fruits, go ahead and eat as much as you want. I commonly eat over 1 pound of fruits per meal. Prunes, grapes, kiwifruit and figs are especially good constipation relievers.
The BOMB
First introduced in my home remedies for constipation article. The Bomb's nickname comes from the nurses in nursing homes because it is so effective and works like, you guessed it, a bomb! It consists of 1 cup prune juice, 1 cup coffee, 20-30cc milk of magnesia. Warm it up and drink before you go to sleep. Be ready to go to the toilet when you wake up!
Salt Water Flush
This will clean you out, but it isn't my favorite method that's for sure. What you need is natural water and unrefined sea salt. Heat up 1-2 quarts of water, throw in 1-2 tablespoons of sea salt, pour it into a container and drink in one sitting as quickly as you can. For more information on this check out my colon cleanse recipes page, the salt water flush is recipe #2.
Enema
The good old enema, it is a very effective and simple way to get your bowels moving. You can do it with a small amount of water or a with a large amount. Sometimes even a small amount of water will provoke a nice large bowel movement. For instructions check my cleansing enemas page and the related articles there.
Laxatives
Last but not least are laxatives, laxatives are safe and do not cause any problems. This has been proven in a study (The American Journal of Gastroenterology (2005) 100, 232–242;) where they said "There is no indication for the occurrence of "rebound constipation" after stopping laxative intake. While laxatives may be misused, there is no potential for addiction.". So if you want to try laxatives then go for it, they'll most likely help!
Remember to drink plenty of clean water every day, not just when you're doing these specific things, but also in your day to day life.
