Getting Over Childhood Enemas

by Diane Dunn
(Illinois)

When I was growing up, my mother gave me enemas for chronic constipation. She used ivory soap in my enemas, which she peeled from the soap bar. After a few minutes I was given one enema, maybe two quarts full which I held for 15 minutes.

She kept the nozzle inserted, holding it and massaged my stomach. I would get very crampy. Then another enema, bigger volume followed. This went on for years when I was growing up.

The sessions took hours, usually my whole Saturday morning was spent this way. As an adult I still need enemas for constipation.

My husband helps with my enemas now and has made a transition into using a vibrator to stimulate me while a 4 Quart enema is going in and he says this will help me keep the water in.

That is probably true but I have gotten to enjoy these treatments for more than health reasons and find myself wanting enemas daily.

Is this unhealthy? Or if it is OK, is there a special solution I should be using when taking enemas so often?

Do you have any advice? Am I depleting my electrolytes?

Hi Diane
by: Henri (The Owner)

Thank you for your contribution, Diane!

I cannot personally advise you on this matter, hopefully someone else can come in and comment.

In terms of electrolyte imbalance, how do you feel? Do you feel good, or do you feel sluggish, low on energy or any other signs that somthing isn't right?

There is a good forum at CureZone that might help you, there is one thread about long-term use of enemas: click here to read it.

I would also recommend that you talk with someone in your area that is experienced with enemas.

I am not a doctor, so it would be best if you got professional advice.

All the best!
Henri

Emotional blockage
by: Anonymous

Sounds like it might have become a bit of an addiction, any addiction is not beneficial for long-term health.

Is it giving you a sense of sexual gratification? If so it may be a good idea to seek professional advice as it could cause emotional problems in the future.

re-enemas
by: Anonymous

You should not worry about it as millions of peeps have got enemas both in childhood & as adults. It's not a big deal. It's just a simple medical procedure for constipation that has been going on for over 2,000 years. It's just a bit embarassing to talk about.

Frequent enemas
by: Diane in New Jersey

I too take many enemas like your self however I add a tbs. each of sea salt and baking soda per quart of warm water, two to three quarts per enema 3 to 4 times a week.

I prefer to use a 30" Fr. 32 colon tube to deliver the enema into the transverse colon.

Gives it high and complete and so much easer to hold. I'll be 61 in 4 weeks and have taken enemas for over 40 years. I gave them to my children and still do to my husband.

Stay healthy,
Diane
