9 Popular Colon Cleanse
Recipes & Ingredients

Are you here for the colon cleanse recipes?

I hope you're ready because I've gathered all the good ones under the same roof.

Let's get started!

The most important thing about all these recipes and methods is that they should be 100% natural.

And whatever recipe you decide to try, drink plenty of water and eat lots of fruits and vegetables.

No processed, unhealthy junk is allowed in your body!

Colon Cleanse Recipe #1: Water Enema

A regular water enema is one of the safest, simplest and most effective colon cleansers.

An enema is when you introduce water into your colon through your rectum, retain it for awhile and then expel it into the toilet.

This cleanses and flushes out old fecal matter that is stuck in the lower part of your colon, and can be done during fasting to clean out and promote bowel movements.

You can read more about enemas on my cleansing enemas page.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #2: Salt Water Flush

A salt water flush is said to flush out toxins from your colon, much like an enema. I have not tried it myself; although I have done a liver cleanse which uses epsom salts to open up the right places to allow the passage of stones and bile.

A salt water flush is best done in the morning on an empty stomach, you might also want to do an enema before you start.

What you need for this recipe is:

  • Pure Water
  • Natural Salt (such as Sea salt)

Here is how you go about it:

  1. Heat up 1-2 quarts water (or mix with cold water)
  2. Throw in 1-2 tablespoons of sea salt
  3. When the water is warm, pour it into a container
  4. Drink in one sitting as quickly as you can

You will most likely experience loose stools, if not you probably did not have enough salt in your mixture.

Your mixture should be as salty as you can bear, it will taste awful, chug it down and wait for the avalanche!

After you've gotten it down you may experience mild symptoms such as nausea or headache.

As the mixture moves through your body you will want to stay close to a bathroom for a few hours.

This flush can flush out good bacteria from your stomach, so I recommend that you supplement with a probiotic like Latero-Flora.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #3: Vegetable Juices

Drinking fresh vegetable juices improve your health in so many ways that you just cannot live without them (even though they taste awful sometimes).

Buy a nice juicer and start juicing those vegetables, the greener the better and the more disgusting it tastes, the healthier it is for you :-).

Vegetable juices clean your colon and can be used alongside with your normal diet.

They are excellent if you don't have time or just don't want to do a colon cleanse.

Here are some examples of healthy vegetables to juice:

  • Celery
  • Broccoli
  • Kale
  • Any Lettuce
  • Fennel
  • Carrots
  • Wheatgrass

I sometimes blend my vegetables with freshly squeezed orange juice when I don't want to chug down something that tastes awful.

I recommend you do the same in the beginning to get your tastebuds used to your new healthy juices.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #4: Master Cleanser

The master cleanse diet has been around for close to 50 years, it is considered to be one of the best ways to give your digestive organs a rest.

The purpose of this cleanse is to:

  • Dissolve and remove toxins
  • Clean your kidneys
  • Cleanse the glands and cells of your body
  • Create a healthier blood stream
  • Remove waste and hardened matter in the joints and muscles

The ingredients are:

  • 2 Tablespoons of organic lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of organic grade b maple syrup
  • 1/10 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
  • 10 oz of filtered and clean water

Mix all of the above and drink the above 5-15 times a day. No other food or liquid should be taken while you are on this cleanse.

This cleanse is done for a minimum of 10 days and it is recommended that you read the book and CureZone FAQ before starting.

If you're lazy and don't want to find all of this information yourself, there is an ebook available that helps you prepare and go through the master cleanse, you can read about it.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #5: Psyllium & Bentonite Clay

This recipe effectively cleanses your whole digestive system and is also known as a P&B shake.

Mix 1 tablespoon of bentonite and 1 tablespoon of whole psyllium husks (1 teaspoon of powdered psyllium) with water or juice, then shake and drink immediately before it turns into a gooey form, then drink another glass of water to chase it down.

The benefits of taking healing clays internally are:

  • Removes toxins
  • Cleanses the colon and promotes good bacterial balance in the stomach
  • Stimulates and detoxifies the liver
  • Removes heavy metals
  • Improves digestion

Bentonite & other healing clays should not be taken:

  • With important medications
  • If you have high blood pressure
  • If you have an iron intolerance

I recommend you read this thread on CureZone to learn more about P&B shakes.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #6: Water Fasting

Fasting on water really cleans out your body, but it can also make you extremely weak.

I've tried it for 3-4 days and I had to give it up, because I had things to do at the time and I learned the hard way that you can't water fast if you have to do stuff!

I recommend this cleanse for the most experienced cleansers, it can be dangerous if you do not know what you're doing.

There are many clinics that provide water fasting supervision and I highly recommend those, but do not do it alone for long periods of time if you're new.

While on the water fast you can drink as much water as you want and it is recommended that you:

  • Rest, rest, rest!
  • Use enemas to clean out the old
  • Meditate

It can be very boring, you basically have to lie in bed all the time :).

Some of the benefits experienced on a water fast are:

  • Healthier skin
  • Healthier teeth & gums
  • Better eyesight
  • Improved sleep
  • Reduction in headaches and other pains
  • Stabilization of blood pressure
  • Improved digestion
  • Loss of excess fat
  • Elimination of toxins
  • Mental clarity

Colon Cleanse Recipe #7: Juice Fasting

Juice fasting doesn't cleanse your body quite as fast as water but it is still extremely beneficial.

The longest juice fast I've been on myself is about 2 weeks. Fasting on juice is so much easier because you actually get a lot of calories from your freshly squeezed juices.

It isn't like water where you get 0 calories and have to rest all the time, you can actually move! ;-)

When I do my juice fasts I also enjoy light activities such as swimming, walking and stretching.

The only piece of equipment you need is a good juicer, I use the Omega 8005 and have been using it since 2005, and it hasn't let me down.

The benefits of juice fasting are the same as for water fasting, just in smaller doses.

Do not start a fast if you are/have:

  • Pregnant
  • Underweight
  • Have Ulcers
  • Low Blood Pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Liver Disease
  • Kidney Disease

Some common side effects can be:

  • Skin eruptions
  • Headaches
  • Diarrhea
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea

I myself have not experienced anything more than a mild headache. If you experience anything intense that does not pass you should contact your doctor immediately.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #8: Probiotics

Probiotics are great, I've talked about them on several pages on this website. I highly recommend that you supplement with probiotics.

You can never really go wrong with them. They are especially helpful when you're doing enemas, cleansing or fasting because that's when your body needs the extra help.

An example would be after you've done an enema or been to a colon hydrotherapy clinic. Your colon has been flushed with water and sometimes you can lose important microflora from your stomach.

That's where probiotics come in, they provide the body with healthy and beneficial bacteria that help maintain the microflora of your intestines.

A good probiotic can often be found at your local health store.

If you can't find one locally I recommend Latero-Flora.

Colon Cleanse Recipe #9: Diet

Last but not least, my favorite subject to repeat over and over. If you're familiar with this website you know I never stop nagging about diet ;-).

Your diet is your foundation, it is the most important aspect when it comes to your health. If you're eating unhealthy foods then you have no one but yourself to blame when diseases come knocking at your door.

It doesn't matter if you do colon cleanses, they can help for awhile but your problems will always come back if you aren't eating healthy!

What's healthy? This is healthy:

  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Grains
  • Legumes

I'll leave it at that, eat lots of those foods, especially fruits and vegetables and you will not regret it.

Some of the colon cleanse recipes mentioned above can be used together.

And if you don't want to make your own colon cleanse, you can always buy a proven effective, natural solution, which is what I like to do.
